Put emergency information on your lock screen

You can add a message and emergency information to your Android phone's lock screen.
Important: Anyone who picks up your phone can see your message and emergency information without unlocking your phone.
Note: Android isn't the same on all devices. These instructions are for devices running Android 7.0 and up. Learn how to check your Android version.

Put a message on your lock screen

You can add a line of text to your device's lock screen, like information that would help someone return your device to you if you lost it.
  1. Open your device's Settings app Settings.
  2. Under "Personal," tap Security.
  3. Next to "Screen lock," tap Settings Settings.
  4. Tap Lock screen message.
  5. Type your message. Tap Save.

You can add a link to personal emergency information to your device's lock screen. For example, you can add information that would help first responders in an emergency, like your blood type, allergies, and medications.
  1. Open your device's Settings app Settings.
  2. Under "Device," tap Users.
  3. Tap Emergency information and then Continue.
  4. Enter the information that you want to share.
    • On the "Info" tab, tap a field and type your information. Tap OK.
    • On the "Contacts" tab, tap Add contact and pick a contact.
Note: Your emergency information is stored only on your phone, not in your Google Account.
  1. On a locked phone, swipe up.
  2. Tap Emergency.
  3. Tap Emergency information.
  4. When Emergency information flashes, tap it again.
  5. You'll see 2 tabs. To switch between them, tap Info or Contacts.
