So, the HTC U11, HTC U Ultra, and HTC 10 should rejoice. All the three phones are currently running on Android Nougat. Apart from the names of the devices, HTC now confirms the timeline of the roll out as well. The company officially announced via a tweet that all the three phones will get the software update in Q4, which is sometime between October and December this year. The post that the company tweets reads as follows: "We're excited to bring Android 8.0 to the HTC U11, U Ultra, & 10, beginning with U11 in Q4. Stay tuned for more Oreo details & new products!"
This also sort of predicts that other companies who are also in talks with Google to bring Android Oreo to their devices may also roll out the update sometime around the same time, that is Q4. Google is said to be in talks with Essential, General Mobile, HMD Global Home of Nokia Phones, Huawei, HTC, Kyocera, LG, Motorola, Samsung, Sharp, and Sony to bring the software update to some of their devices.
Although Xiaomi doesn't seems to make a place on the list. But, arguably the 13 phones by Xiaomi will get the update. The phones include -- Redmi 4A, Mi 5C, Redmi Note 4, Redmi 4X, Redmi Note 4X, Redmi 4, Mi Mix, Mi 5S, Mi 5S Plus, Redmi 3S, Redmi 3S Prime, Mi 5, and Redmi Note 3. Apart from HTC, OnePlus and HMD Global has also confirmed the devices that will get Android Oreo but didn't reveal the timeline of the roll out yet. OnePlus CEO said that last years' flagship phones -- OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will get the software update, but also notes that this will be the last update that the phones will receive. Android Oreo features
Android O comes with the picture-in-picture feature. This will allow users to easily work on two apps at the same time. Basically, multi-task. The new software also come with improvements in the notification panel. Further, the Android Oreo notification dots allow users to see what's new in their apps, like the important ones the user puts on their home screen, and then accordingly take action on those notifications quickly.
Android Oreo is said to be the most secure version of Android so far. "Android Oreo is more secure with Google Play Protect built in, security status front and center in settings, and tighter app installs controls," notes Google. Alongside being secure, Android O helps minimize unintentional overuse of battery from apps in the background. This saves a lot of battery.
Android Oreo will make your device faster than ever and boost speed, says Google. This is because the software comes with autofill feature that remembers things like logins, passwords -- with user's permission. Google claims that it boosts speed up to "twice as fast on Pixel." Furthermore, the new software also comes with support for Android Instant Apps which allow users to directly teleport directly into new apps with no installations. Additionally, Android Oreo also brings along several news and fully-redesigned emojis.
